Ruby Has Awarded Bronze Stevie Award by the American Business Awards for Covid-19 Response

Another award win for Ruby Has! This time, the company won a Stevie Award in the “Most Valuable Corporate Response” category for its external and internal response to the pandemic.

When Covid-19 struck in March 2020, and hospitals found themselves woefully short on medical supplies, particularly Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Ruby Has and its client Nanoleaf stepped up to help. Both companies knew their products and offerings allowed them to quickly help supply doctors and nurses with PPE to fight the pandemic.

Typically a light panel manufacturer, Nanoleaf had the infrastructure needed to shift operations to create masks. While Nanoleaf had the capability to make the masks, the company needed a way to deliver them to front line workers. As their third-party logistics provider, Ruby Has Fulfillment quickly jumped on board to offer their fulfillment services to transport the masks via the 3PL’s freight service connections.

Their partnership allowed Nanoleaf and Ruby Has to produce and deliver 50,000 masks (free of cost) and immediately ship the masks to areas most in need at the time. Ruby Has also sent masks to its competitors as a gesture of unity.

Internally, Ruby Has took swift action to protect its employees from COVID-19.  The company immediately increased provisions to supply PPE, such as hand sanitizers, masks, gloves, disposable wipes, and disinfectant products to all employees.

On-site cleaning was increased with particular attention to frequently touched surfaces in the workplace and in the warehouse, with only essential employees on site to process orders. For these essential workers, Ruby Has instituted a stay-at-home rule: if team members had any symptoms or felt ill, they couldn’t return to work until they were symptom free for 48 hours.

Finally, Ruby Has understood that many front line team members had children home from school with no extra childcare services. Additionally, many employees also had to find alternatives to public transportation to get to work. To aid fulfillment employees during this difficult time, Ruby Has gave its essential workers a 10% compensation increase.

From both an external and internal position, Ruby Has stepped up to the plate during the surge of COVID-19, making employee safety a top priority and using the company’s impactful 3PL position to provide PPE at an extremely critical time.

“At the onset of the pandemic, we knew we were in a unique position to help externally, but our employees also needed us to step up to the plate and we feel we did,” said Rafi Zakinov, Founder and CEO, Ruby Has. “Recognition of our response by the American Business Awards validates our actions were needed and appreciated during such unprecedented times.”
